Lord Rama cultivated huge armies of devotees druing his 14-year long sojourn in the forests during which he relinquished all palatial comforts and lived an ascetic life in the service of saints and hermits. One devotee who earned his lifelong gratitude was Shabri. One day Lored Rama showed up a her doortstpe with his wife and brother. Her mind completely possessed of her love for him, she served him fruits but first tasted those herslef to make sure they were ripe. Lord Rama affectionately accepted her deviotional offering, holding her love above social standards of propriety.
